I've got some heavy Polks for the surround sound speakers. I was concerned about stability, even tho these speakers are nicely tucked in a corner. Thought I'd have to fill them with lead shot (but, where does one get lead shot these days, in Massachusetts?). In the end... think they are stable enuf.Getting the surrounds up at ear level (while seated on the couch)... works wonders.

Raising the height of my Bose 901's made an amazing difference in the listening experience and in how the speakers fill the room with sound. These stands created a much cleaner and more modern look.
After receiving my first set of stands I was so impressed with the quality and attractiveness I bought two more of a different height. I had a local granite cutter cut 8x11 pieces of black granite that I attached to the tops of the stands. I now have matching/modern tables sitting at the corners of my sofa and love seat. An off the wall use but it looks amazing, takes up little room and holds my drink/coffee perfectly.

Threaded carpet spikes are provided, they are designed as bolts that screw into the bottom plate that sits on the floor. After one screws in the bolt then the opposite end is a "spike" that is designed to either (a)penetrate into a thick carpet in order to prevent sliding or (b) have the spike end rest upon a round plastic button AND THAT IS WHAT CAUSES INSTABILITY. The spike does not fit onto the buttons and the entire stand slides off the buttons. Will not recommend this product for the reason of the spike/button inferior tooling.

On the plus side, these are reasonably attractive, heavy quality stands which facilitate a stable environment for quality loudspeakers like my B & W 900's. On the other hand, the stand's tiny holes are too small to feed the speaker wires with ease, not to mention the insertion of sand or metal. Overall, they are a good value for the price.
